For all scholarships, applicants must first be screened and pre-approved based on the criteria for admission at each program for which they are applying for financial assistance. Individuals should be able to reference a contact person at each program as a reference and confirmation of their acceptance into that program.
Scholarship applications will be accepted on a rolling basis.
Applicants need to demonstrate financial need and may be required to provide evidence, such as tax returns.
We are reviewing all applications and will be in touch within 7 days. We look forward to talking with you!
For any additional questions you can email us at helpinghandsfil@gmail.com
Don’t worry, so are we. That is why the payments will go directly to the agency, but not to the individual person themselves. The check will be tagged for the approved individual and program but not addressed to the individual.
We will protect your privacy, and all non-relevant personal financial information will not be shared with agency staff. We will share the amount of the scholarship as that will be paid directly to the agency on the individual’s behalf.
In addition, applicants do need to be screened and approved to attend the program for which they are applying. Foundation staff will confirm eligibility with the listed contact details you provide.
If you are accepted, we will ask you to sign a photo release and, with your permission, would like to share a photo and blurb of the activity/program in which you are participating on our blog page. This will only be done, if you consent.
You will need to re-apply for annual/seasonal programs, i.e Shelanu, Theater for Action, and NorthEast Activities.
For the POINT community you will receive the scholarship for 4 years but will need to submit proof of financial need each year. (e.g., if your financial situation changes and you do not need financial assistance anymore, we will re-distribute to others who could benefit)
Great question! Please go to our General Inquiries page and reach out to discuss. We are open to adding new services and programs if they are in keeping with our mission and funding guidelines & capabilities.
